Long story short for Unity based games, takes 2 minutes to crack the steam version and distribute it as such makes really no difference to sell it on Steam or on Gog to be honest, if the concern is piracy. A superhero/supervillain battle, involving Baron Blitzkrieg, Iron Munro, and others, results in extensive damage to downtown Atlanta. What you want to stop is the people making a profit out of piracy, and FBI does a great job at catching those. If someone does not want to pay, it is their problem you would not make money out of those people anyway and sooner or later, they get caught and then they end up paying more than all that they ever downloaded. When you make software, you account for piracy. If someone get the game on GOG and share it around, that is not a big deal, because those money were not going in the pocket of the developer anyway. That is incorrect if someone wants a game, they get it already on the tons of sites that make games available, few days after their release. If a developer's heart is really in it and the game is as good as this one is, support the game and the developer and just buy it. Actions speak for themselves what kind of person you are when you actually do have money and still DL everything. I do believe some people are actually demo-testing before they buy something but a majority of people have no intention of ever paying for anything even if they did enjoy it a lot, either because they don't work and don't make their own money or maybe they are just jerks, Kanye West pirates his music-making software even though he is rich.
